Innovation in foreign language studies spotlighted at conference

A conference spotlighting innovation in foreign language studies from the perspective of regional and international communication was held at Shenzhen University (SZU)’s Yuehai campus Saturday.

The one-day conference, jointly organized by SZU’s College of International Studies and the Institute of Area and International Communication Studies (IAIC), included a keynote speech session and four sub-sessions focusing on the development and innovation of foreign literature research, foreign and applied linguistics, translation studies, and area and international communication studies.

The conference highlighted the innovation in foreign language studies and cultivation of interdisciplinary talents with a global vision in the new era, to serve the Belt and Road Initiative and the building of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as the pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics in Shenzhen.

Around 16 experts from universities across the country including Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai International Studies University and SZU delivered a speech either on-site or via video link to share their visions on different topics.
