Shenzhen's health authority has offered four health tips to citizens who are working from home, as the city’s COVID-19 prevention and control headquarters issued a notice Sunday advocating residents to work from home for a week from yesterday to Friday if circumstances permit.

Citizens are advised to undergo nucleic acid tests daily, pay close attention to their health and seek medical treatment in a timely manner in case of any suspicious symptoms such as fever, dry cough, fatigue and sore throat.

Residents must avoid going out as much as possible, and refrain from attending gatherings, visiting others, traveling or joining crowds. When going out, one must wear a mask properly, avoid taking public transportation as much as possible, and carefully clean and disinfect hands after returning home.

Proper ventilation is also recommended. Rooms must be ventilated at least once in the morning and afternoon for at least 30 minutes each time every day. Keep rooms clean and disinfect them if necessary.

Meanwhile, citizens are also advised to develop good habits, reasonably arrange their time for work, study and rest, be physically and mentally healthy and enhance their immune systems.

Lin Hancheng, a senior official from the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission, said at a press conference yesterday that Shenzhen is facing great pressure on COVID prevention and control.

The total number of new COVID cases and the number of infections found in communities have continued to grow, which poses a relatively high risk of COVID transmission in local communities, according to Lin.

Lin said Shenzhen adheres to people-centered approaches in COVID prevention and control, responding to citizens’ demands in a timely manner while strictly implementing various control measures in risk areas.

“We must also take precautions against public security emergencies such as fires with COVID prevention and control measures in place,” Lin said.

In addition to ensuring the supply and stabilizing prices of daily necessities, the city’s market regulator has also continuously improved the epidemic prevention and control mechanisms for wet markets and pharmacies, according to Chen Jianmin, deputy head of the city’s market regulator.

Shenzhen reported 54 confirmed COVID cases and 72 asymptomatic infections Sunday.
