The 2022 Carbon Peak and Neutrality Forum and Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum will be held from Monday to Wednesday at Shenzhen International Low Carbon City in Longgang District to showcase the city’s green development concepts and promote the high-quality development of the green and low carbon industry, according to information released at a news conference held at Civic Center in Futian District on Thursday.

The forum, the only forum in the green and low carbon development field guided by the National Development and Reform Commission, has been successfully held for nine consecutive years, attracting more than 10,000 guests from over 60 countries and regions worldwide.

This year’s forum will spotlight China’s carbon peak and neutrality goals (or “dual carbon goals”) and the green recovery of the global economy.

It will include one main forum, nine parallel forums and many other supporting activities to gather international organizations, government departments, enterprises, scholars and media to discuss measures on green development and enhance international and regional cooperation and exchanges.

A digital cloud platform will be established to allow the public to participate in the activities via livestreaming to form the permanent digital asset of Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum.

In addition, the forum will hold an energy conservation and low carbon industry expo. A group of leading enterprises such as Huawei, Tencent and BYD will showcase their advanced green and low carbon technologies and products.

Measures on promoting the high-quality development of the green and low carbon industry will also be unveiled during the forum to support businesses involved in clean energy, energy conservation and environmental protection, new energy vehicles, green and low carbon services and so on.

In order to enhance public involvement and promote the green and low carbon concept, a “dual carbon goals” knowledge competition will be held for university and college students.

The Shenzhen Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau will hold a series of featured activities to promote the city’s efforts in carbon trading and climate investment and financing.

Moreover, a new public bus route between Shenzhen MSU-BIT University and Shenzhen International Low Carbon City was launched and another four parking lots were added near Shenzhen International Low Carbon City to ensure smooth traffic during the forum, according to the news conference.
