Upcoming Metro line 16 to link Hakka culture destinations

Upon Metro Line 16’s operation Dec. 28, passengers will be able to take Metro to experience and learn Hakka culture and traditions.

The 29.2-kilometer Line 16, with 24 stations, will run between Universiade Station in Longgang District and Tianxin Station in Pingshan District. It will pass Universiade Town, Longgang CBD and Pingshan CBD and three Hakka culture landmarks, namely Dawan Ancestral Residence in Pingshan, Longgang Hakka Folk Customs Museum and Datian Artisan Work Culture Village in Longgang, a notice from Shenzhen Metro Group, the operator, said Monday.

So far, the fully automated line had passed safety assessment for operation. It will further improve the transport infrastructure in Pingshan and Longgang, according to the operator.

Line 16 will be extended southward to interchange with the Shenzhen-Shenshan intercity rail and Line 18, according to the construction plan.
