Construction on 40 key transportation projects in Shenzhen is in progress. As of the end of November, about 11.2 billion yuan (US$1.6 billion) had been invested in these projects, accounting for 93% of the annual 12-billion-yuan investment plan, as reported by Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.

Among the projects that have been completed is the 4.9-kilometer Phase I renovation project of Guimiao Road. The project starts from Menghai Boulevard in Qianhai and connects Binhai Boulevard by passing through Yueliangwan Boulevard.

The operation of the eastbound tunnel of the Guimiao Road project can cut the travel time by car between Qianhai and Futian District to 15 minutes.

The renovation project includes a two-way six-to-eight-lane ground-level road, which is designed for 50-kilometer-per-hour traffic, and a two-way six-lane underground road designed for 80-kilometer-per-hour traffic.

The completed Hengping Highway renovation project has improved traffic congestion in the southwestern areas of Pingshan District. The Yangang East Interchange and Jihua Road projects will be completed by the end of the year.

Since the start of this year, the Shenzhen Municipal Transport Bureau has stepped up construction of the key transportation projects including Chunfeng Tunnel, the Binhai Boulevard (the Super Headquarters Base section) renovation project, and Mawan Cross-sea Passage.

So far, the tunnel boring work on Chunfeng Tunnel has exceeded 2,000 meters while the construction on the main structure of Binhai Boulevard (the Super Headquarters Base section) is 40% completed.
