The “One World” exhibition displays contemporary artist Li Jinghu’s new works, such as “Whose Dream Did You Decorate,” “Chess” and “The Sun Rises From the Horizon.”

Li was born in Dongguan in 1972 and graduated from the Fine Arts Department of South China Normal University in Guangzhou. He currently lives and works in Dongguan. Over the past 50 years, Li has witnessed and captured Dongguan’s changes from a small agricultural town to a manufacturing city in the Pearl River Delta.

Li primarily creates sculptures and installations, through which he presents an intertwining and ongoing personal historiography of a landscape in flux; his poetically charged works frequently utilize humble materials gathered from his everyday locales.

His works share a deep-rooted connection with Dongguan and its relentless transformation, which contributes both to the substance of his life and work. His practice seeks to both capture and transcend the line between collectivity and personal forms of expression. His works address issues about migrant workers, industrialization, the world’s factories, and capitalism on the backdrop of modernization, urbanization, and globalization in Dongguan and China.
