A notice posted on the door of a local pharmacy has warmed the hearts of many people, as it offered to give antipyretic medicine to those who need the drugs but couldn’t get them.

The notice reads: “If you have a fever of over 39 degrees Celsius and couldn’t buy medicine, you can come to our store to get two days’ worth of antipyretic medicine for free. (The drug is) for those who need it until there is none left! Wish you good health!”

The pharmacy, located at Xikeng Community in Fucheng Subdistrict, Longhua District, was swarmed with customers Tuesday, with some coming for cold or antipyretic medicines, Southern Metropolis Daily reported.

According to Zhu Bizhen, the pharmacy’s manager, the notice was posted Sunday. “Because many people have fever and can’t buy medicine these days, and we have some stock in the store, so I discussed with another colleague to give them to people in need,” Zhu told the Daily.

Zhu said that the pharmacy has 200 packages of analgin tablets in stock, with each package containing six tablets for two days, which is the regular dose for the drug. Only a few people came to get the medicine on the first day, but more came the next day.

In addition to the free medicine, the pharmacy’s stock of antipyretic drugs has been sold out, even after new ones arrived. Now, the pharmacy is stepping up its procurement to ensure its supply, according to the Daily.

Zhu said they first verify the patient’s identity and fever status before giving the medicine. “Some people have high fever and body aches, and we can send it to them if they ask their friends to pick it up for them.”

Zhu hoped that the pharmacy’s move could help people in need and that everyone could get through this period safely.
