The year 2022 marked the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s first inspection tour to Qianhai and the one-year anniversary of the issuance of the Qianhai Plan. The Authority of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone recently unveiled 10 major events that marked Qianhai’s efforts last year in further deepening reform and opening up.
After the issuance of the Qianhai Plan last September, a number of national departments and commissions rolled out targeted policies to support Qianhai in deepening reform and further opening up. From September to November last year, the provincial and municipal authorities made inspections and provided support to Qianhai, which allowed Qianhai to complete 40% of the 72 key tasks stipulated in the Qianhai Plan.
On June 27, Qianhai unveiled nine practical efforts benefiting Hong Kong companies and individuals in terms of housing, entrepreneurship, public service, employment, development platform, science and technology innovation, finance, residence and well-being.
On July 22, Sun Yat-sen University released the “2021-2022 China Pilot Free Trade Zone Institutional Innovation Index,” in which Qianhai ranked first. Throughout the year, Qianhai recorded 80 new institutional innovation achievements, bringing the total number to 765.
To accelerate the development of a new high-quality and efficient service industry system and build an important producer services center in the Asia-Pacific region, Qianhai launched the Qianhai Global Service Providers Program last November to attract eight categories of service providers worldwide to gather in Qianhai.
In the same month, the Qianhai and Shekou Free Trade Area of China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone was selected as a “Demonstration Zones of National Import Trade Promotion and Innovation.”
Other events last year included substantial breakthroughs in Qianhai’s management system innovation, Shenzhen and Hong Kong jointly releasing supporting policies for both cities’ financial industries for the first time, and the compilation of Qianhai’s land space plans.
