Train G6031, carrying over 370 workers from Hunan Province, arrived at Shenzhen North Railway Station on Saturday, marking the start of migrant workers returning to work in the city through the chartered railway services arranged by railway operators.

The railway operators had planned to arrange 10 trains to transport around 3,000 workers in Hunan and Guangxi to return or come to Shenzhen to work during the post-festival period.

Based on enterprises’ needs, the railway operators arranged group tickets for the employees to return to work after the Spring Festival holiday.

Shenzhen North Railway Station witnessed new records for arrivals with passenger turnover hitting 292,000 and 297,000 Friday and Saturday, topping the previous single-day record of 271,000 passenger trips Feb. 7, 2022.

The arrivals at Shenzhen North Railway Station can directly take Metro Line 1, without going through security checks.

Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport saw its passenger turnover reaching 150,000 Friday, the same as the pre-pandemic level in 2019.

During the Spring Festival holiday period, the Shenzhen airport handled 830,000 passenger trips. Between Wednesday and Friday, the single-day passenger trips exceeded 130,000, 140,000 and 150,000.

Data from the municipal transport bureau showed that the city’s transport terminals handled a total of 1.3 million arrivals between Jan. 21 and Friday, up 70% over the same period last year. Airport arrivals reached 392,600, up 106.6% year on year, and the arrivals via railway reached 875,500, up 53.03% compared to a year earlier.

The surge of arrivals has made Shenzhen one of the top 10 tourist destinations for the Spring Festival travel, which also included Shanghai, Beijing, Sanya, Guangzhou and Chengdu.
