Shenzhen Rescue Volunteers Federation will send an advance team to aid the rescue operation in Türkiye following a huge earthquake that has killed more than 4,800 people in Türkiye and Syria.

According to Wu Bingning, a member of the federation, the advance team consisting of six rescuers will leave Shenzhen tomorrow if everything goes as planned. Currently, they’re dealing with all the paperwork needed for the operation and preparing supplies for the rescue.

They also need help in translation, local guidance, local vehicles, fuels, personnel for delivering equipment, channels for transferring rescue supplies and people who can help coordinate the purchase of supplies. Chinese institutions, organizations, and students in Türkiye as well as Turkish expats in China are welcome to contact the federation through their official WeChat account “SMRT2008” if they can offer help.

They’re also in special need for professionals in languages such as Turkish and the Kurdish language to help with information research, according to Wu.
