Young SZ researchers to win GD science award

Eight young Shenzhen researchers are expected to win the 2022 Guangdong Youth Scientific and Technological Innovation Award, accounting for one-third of the candidates for the award, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported Wednesday.

The newly established youth scientific and technological innovation award is one of seven award categories of the Guangdong Science and Technology Award. The proposed candidates for the science and technology award was recently released for public review.

Most of the 24 candidates for the youth scientific and technological award are from major universities and research institutions in Guangdong Province, according to the Daily report.

Among them, 20 are engaged in basic research and four in R&D. They include Liu Bilu from Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, Xu Hu and Zhang Jin from the Southern University of Science and Technology; Zhang Han, Wu Song and Zhu Jianbo from Shenzhen University; He Daojing from the Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen; and Zhu Yingjie from the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Shenzhen Economic Daily hailed the young researchers as “new blood” and “remarkable rising forces” in Shenzhen’s innovation drive.

Shenzhen candidates are also expected to win in all the other award categories.
