Pingshan visits France to bring in investment, talents

A Pingshan delegation, led by Yang Jun, Pingshan District Party chief, set out on an overseas business trip to bring in investment and talents. Their first stops were in Paris and Lyons in France from Saturday to today.

During the trip in France, the delegation visited a series of research institutions and incubation companies, including Station F, Sanofi, Sanofi Pasteur, 3SP Technologies S.A.S., and M2i Life Sciences, to engage in deep conversations regarding scientific and innovative cooperation, talent interactivity, and transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

Station F is noted as the world’s largest startup facility, which is also renowned as France’s Silicon Valley. The facility, home to more than 2,000 startups, will hold a yearly average of more than 600 innovative and entrepreneurship activities.

During a dialogue with Station F, Yang pointed out that his delegation is seeking international business opportunities, to match the overseas innovative ecosystems in production, education and research and further promote international cooperation. A delegate from Station F expressed their wish for both parties through the exchange to make further improvements in innovation for the advancement of experience in operation and management.

Sanofi received the Pingshan delegation at its new headquarters building — La Maison — as the first official Chinese delegation to visit in the past three years. The conversation between Sanofi and Pingshan delegation covered topics including the introduction of global innovative medications, accelerating the research of China-developed medicines, expanding production and investment in new drugs, and digital medical services. The delegation also visited Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccines division of Sanofi in Lyons.

Sanofi is a French multinational pharmaceutical and health care company that is committed to develop medicines and vaccines with the potential to improve people’s lives. Pingshan is home to one of the important research and production bases of the company.

Sanofi showed their intention to further cooperate with Pingshan, a district with a cluster for Shenzhen’s biomedicine industry. The company will assist the district to build itself as a core engine for the biomedicine industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The Pingshan delegation said that the district is creating a first-class business environment and innovative ecosystem and is providing high-quality services for multinational companies such as Sanofi.

Sanofi accepted Pingshan’s invitation and will pay a return visit to the district in the beginning of April to explore further cooperation.

During a visit to the chip manufacturing workshop of 3SP Technologies S.A.S. on Monday, the Pingshan District Government signed a letter of intention and a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the company.

Pingshan and the company is pushing forward the implementation of a chip project in Pingshan. In the future, the two sides will conduct all-round cooperation in scientific and technological exchange, pushing forward the implementation of cooperative projects and scientific achievement commercialization and attracting talents. By the end of 2025, the output of the chip project is expected to reach 10 billion yuan (US$1.47 billion).

The Pingshan delegation will head to Switzerland and Germany in the following days to seek investment and talents to further boost high-quality development for Pingshan and Shenzhen.
