More self-service machines facilitate HK, Macao travel

Shenzhen residents’ demand for going to Hong Kong and Macao has continued to surge since the Chinese mainland fully resumed normal travel with the two special administrative regions Feb. 6.

Thirty-two additional intelligent self-service machines were made available in the city Tuesday to further improve the efficiency of endorsement for Hong Kong and Macao travel permits, according to the exit-entry administration of the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau.

On Wednesday, a citizen surnamed Chen went to the Party and Public Service Center of Yitian Community in Futian District, planning to apply for an endorsement of his Hong Kong travel permit.

It took Chen about 40 seconds to get the endorsement after he submitted an application at the self-service machine and scanned a QR code for mobile payment.

Chen told Shenzhen Special Zone Daily that the application was quick, which made it more convenient to plan a trip to Hong Kong.

Most of the 32 new self-service machines are located in local community police offices. So far, the city has 43 of these self-service machines.
