A hot destination for spring outings among Shenzheners is Wutong Mountain, and its nearly 10 hectares (100,000 square meters) of blossoming Chinese New Year flowers (Enkianthus quinqueflorus Lour.) is one of the reasons. Being cultivated on the slopes of the mountain since 2016, the lovely trees with abundant clusters of pendent, chandelier-shaped pink flowers that blossom throughout the spring are members of the Ericaceae family and can be found only in mountainous areas at an altitude of 600 to 2,400 meters. The largest cluster of Chinese New Year flowers in Wutong Mountain is in the Enshang Wetland on the southern slope of the mountain. The journey to the spot can also be enjoyable, accompanied with a gentle spring sea wind and providing appealing mountain and sea views.

Transport: Line 8 to Haishan Station (海山站), Exit C and then take the “山海专线” shuttle bus to Enshang Wetland on Wutong Mountain and then hike for around 1.5 hours to see the Chinese New Year flowers
