​The Chinese musical "The Throne and the Poetry" follows Li Yu (937-978), a prince of the Southern Tang state during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period (907-979). Li ruled the Southern Tang state from 961 to 975. Although an incompetent ruler, he was a representative lyric poet during his era. In the musical, audience members will sees Li's clash between his identity as an emperor and a poet.
