The Guangdong Neilingding Futian National Nature Reserve, the only national nature reserve with in China’s urban vicinities, will reopen Feb. 25, according to a notice issued Wednesday.

The reserve will implement a reservation system and open 80 visiting places to the public every day. The aim is to invite the public to experience nature and learn about wetland conservation.

The reserve has established the Futian Mangrove Nature Reserve Nature Education Center, one of the first nature education centers in Shenzhen. Since its launch in November 2014, the center has provided a platform and space for more citizens to learn about mangroves and participate in migratory bird conservation.

Earlier this month, the Futian mangrove wetland was designated as one of the Wetlands of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, attracting more international attention to the mangrove wetland ecosystem in Houhai Bay.
