A media delegation from Hong Kong visited the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone (HTCZ) on Saturday and was briefed about its high-quality development.

With the improvement of transportation facilities, the HTCZ, Hong Kong Science Park and Guangming Science City will form a half-hour traffic circle, the delegation was told, according to a report from www.tkww.hk. The media representatives were also told that the HTCZ can accommodate 1,500 Hong Kong youth entrepreneurs in the future.

Huang Wei, Futian’s Party chief, told the delegation that the HTCZ, which is located in the south of Futian District and borders Hong Kong, has unique advantages in location, system, space and cooperation. It is the only platform featuring science and technology innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), Huang said.

Shenzhen and Hong Kong have set up a joint task force for the coordination and communication in building the cooperation zone between the two sides.

The “one zone, two sections” cooperation arrangement between Shenzhen and Hong Kong has been signed, and the first joint office on the mainland has been put into use, the delegation was told.

Huang said that the innovation and entrepreneurship of Hong Kong youths in the Shenzhen section is becoming increasingly active. Five youth innovation and entrepreneurship bases have been built, which can accommodate about 1,500 young people from Hong Kong to start up their businesses there in the future.

“The HTCZ has its obvious geographical advantages and unique advantages in cross-border cooperation,” said Wang Jun, deputy director of the Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission, adding that the Shenzhen section covers a total area of 3.02 square kilometers.

At present, there are four Metro lines operating inside the HTCZ, and two other lines are under construction, Wang said. In the future, four intercity railways are planned to pass through the area and will have stations there.

“Through the interconnection of these infrastructures, the HTCZ will form a half-hour traffic circle with Hong Kong Science Park and Guangming Science City in Shenzhen, and a one-hour circle with neighboring cities like Guangzhou, Dongguan and Huizhou,” Wang told the delegation. He added that the HTCZ has the advantage to gather advanced industrial resources in the GBA, and high-end science and technology innovation resources worldwide. It also combines the unique advantages of both international and domestic markets, he said.
