African tulip tree (Spathodea campanulata) 火焰木

Native to Africa’s tropical rainforests, the African tulip tree (Spathodea campanulata) is a big, impressive shade tree that carries gigantic, reddish-orange or golden yellow trumpet-shaped flowers and huge, glossy leaves. They are visible in Shenzhen’s Honghu Park, Donghu Park, Lianhua Hill Park, Bijia Mountain Park, and Shenzhen Bay Park. Their full bloom period is from April to May. File photos
