SZ launches youth leadership creative camp

Taoyuan Subdistrict in Nanshan District launched the “To Future” youth leadership creative camp Sunday at the Xili Lake International Talent Communication Center to better serve the universities, communities and emerging industries in the area.

The creative camp will develop a series of activities themed on youth leadership by gathering the best among higher learning institutions, research institutes and high-tech enterprises in the subdistrict, serving international talents and students and creating an international block atmosphere through public and community service improvements.

At the launch ceremony, Zou Xiaoyong, director and scriptwriter of the movie “Chasing Light,” and Liang Chaopo, head of the special effects team of “Wandering Earth 2,” shared their thoughts on cross-cultural entrepreneurship.

“Chasing Light” is a science fiction movie about Shenzhen. Zou showed the audience the birth of a science fiction movie from scriptwriting and concept design, to art design and prop production.

With the success of “Wandering Earth 2,” Liang said his team gained more opportunities in the global market. The two speakers also shared their experiences on cross-cultural innovation and entrepreneurship at the interactive session and encouraged Chinese and foreign youths to pursue excellence in their chosen fields.

Taoyuan Subdistrict was recently rated as an international block featuring internationalized education and research by the Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office.

With the University Town area as the core and utilizing university resources, the subdistrict will promote the construction of the Taoyuan Service Center for Expats and Xili Lake International Talent Communication Center to further enhance its international atmosphere.

The foreign affairs office will announce the result of the selection of the 20 international blocks at a ceremony today.

Among the 20 blocks, seven including Zhaoshang, Shekou and Yuehai were chosen as demonstration areas for international blocks, six were chosen as demonstration blocks featuring internalization and 14 were chosen as blocks featuring internationalization, which are categorized by features in terms of commerce and trade exchanges, industrial innovation, education and research, and culture and tourism.
