Startup projects shine at BSIC Global

Two projects from the AncSonic Technology Co. Ltd. and the Shenzhen Mingzhun Medical Technology Co. Ltd. respectively won the first prize of the growth group and the startup group at the final competition of the 2022-2023 BSIC Global held in Nanshan District on Sunday.

Another 11 projects shared the second and third prizes and the best popularity awards.

The winners will get financial support from Beihang Investment and more than 100 partner investment institutions and venture capital funds of Beihang Investment, one-on-one tutoring from well-known angel investors and generous subsidies and free office rooms for relocating their business operations to specific incubation spaces.

Sponsored by the Beihang University in Beijing and jointly organized by several government and social forces, the 2022-2023 BSIC Global attracted more than 300 audience members, including local government leaders, outstanding young entrepreneurs, top investment institution representatives, Beihang alumni, and partners from all walks of life to attend, and nearly 10,000 people watched the competition online.

Xia Wei, deputy director of the Economic Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPPCC and chairman of Beihang Investment said that after 40 years of development, Shenzhen’s GDP reached 3.2 trillion yuan (US$469.69 billion) last year, and it has become the fourth-largest city in Asia and one of the top 10 cities in the world in terms of GDP ranking. “Today’s Shenzhen serves as the core engine of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the pilot demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Thus, it is of special significance to hold the final competition in Shenzhen,” he said.

At the competition, the BEU Science Entrepreneur Training Camp was officially launched to help more scientists transform their identities into science entrepreneurs.
