SZ ranks 6th in air quality

The air quality in Shenzhen ranked sixth out of 168 key monitoring cities in China in January and February, statistics from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment showed recently.

The top five cities were Lhasa, Haikou, Fuzhou, Zhoushan and Huizhou.

Statistics showed the average of PM2.5 concentration of 339 prefecture-level cities in January and February, a key indicator of air pollution, was 51 micrograms per cubic meter, up by 8.5% year on year. The average of PM10 concentration was 79 micrograms per cubic meter, up by 19.7% year on year.

In February, the average of PM2.5 concentration of the 339 prefecture-level cities was 46 micrograms per cubic meter, up by 24.3% year on year. The average of PM10 concentration was 71 micrograms per cubic meter, up by 29.1% year on year.

The city’s average PM2.5 concentration stood at 25 micrograms per cubic meter in January, statistics from city’s ecological and environment bureau showed. It further dropped to 20.25 micrograms per cubic meter in February.
