To ensure a successful donation, Zhu had exercised more and maintained a good lifestyle since the match, according to the hospital. He overcame muscle soreness and other discomfort caused by receiving an injection that helped mobilize HSCs every day, and successfully completed the collection of HSCs.

The 25-year-old man said he was born into a family of servicemen and policemen. Under the influence of his family, he resolutely joined the army to realize his dream of serving the country and the people. Now, as a veteran and a volunteer, helping others and saving lives is also a bounden duty, according to him.

During a voluntary blood donation, Zhu signed up for sampling and became a volunteer for HSC donation after hearing the staff’s introduction to the China Marrow Donor Program.

Zhu said his heart was greatly saddened when he saw that many families were torn apart due to illness, so he insisted on donating blood and HSCs. “Saving a life and a family is particularly meaningful,” he said.
