The leisure belt runs through Xunhe bridge on Xinzhen River and connects with Bao’an Coastal Cultural Park, where the Bay Glory Ferris wheel is. It stays by Xinzhen and Shuangjie rivers and covers about 27,000 square meters.

The leisure belt also includes a 1-kilometer walking trail, as well as a running trail. “Jogging on the running trail feels fantastic. It welcomes people to do morning exercises here,” an outdoor enthusiast, Deng Liangjun, said.

The running trail is made of permeable concrete and rainwater will not affect the use of the trail. A green belt was built between the walking and running trails, allowing citizens to enjoy nature. The trails also feature public facilities such as toilets and benches.

Citizens can take the Metro and get off at Qianhaiwan Station on lines 1 and 11; Linhai, Guiwan and Qianwan stations on Line 5, and then walk to nearby sections of the belt.

Construction on the belt fully utilized the area’s natural landscapes to create a coastal landscape without destroying its wetland ecosystem, according to the report.

The belt facility is expected to benefit about 1.2 million residents living nearby.

In recent years, Shenzhen has implemented a mountain-sea-connecting-city plan to build ecological leisure belts and corridors along mountains. More high-quality walking, running and strolling trails will be built in the future.
