The Monument to the Liberation of Neilingding Island was first erected by the 390th Regiment of the 130th Division to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs who had died in the liberation of Neilingding Island. The Battle of Neilingding Island, which took place April 18, 1950, was the last battle to achieve the complete liberation of Shenzhen at that time. In that battle, 16 brave soldiers of the 390th Infantry Regiment of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army died.

In August 1995, with the approval of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Cultural Relics and Shenzhen Municipal Government, the monument was relocated to Nantou Zhongshan Park and rebuilt by the Nanshan District Government. The new monument covers an area of 2,400 square meters, whose stele body is a 12-meter-tall four-sided square column structured by reinforced concrete, with polished granite on the outside. On the front and back of the monument are inscriptions written by Zeng Sheng, a founding general, which read respectively, “The Monument to the Liberation of Neilingding Island” and “Eternal Glory to the People’s Heroes!” The monument is encompassed by granite railings.

In September 1984, the monument was designated a cultural relics protection site in Shenzhen.
