Roughly 70 Shenzhen companies that are categorized as specialized, sophisticated enterprises brought their novel and unique products to the ongoing InnoEX in Hong Kong, representing the city’s rising forces of small and medium-sized enterprises to showcase their strengths in both manufacturing and innovation.

Jointly organized by the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, InnoEX launched its inaugural session at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center yesterday as a flagship event of Hong Kong’s Business of Innovation and Technology Week. In addition to some leading technology exhibitors from Shenzhen, such as Huawei, the fair, which is taking place through Saturday, attracted a number of specialized and sophisticated small and medium-sized enterprises that produce novel and unique products to take part in both its physical and online exhibitions.

The Shenzhen pavilion at the physical fair, featuring products such as underwater robotic cameras made by Chasing-Innovation Co. and translator earbuds produced by Timekettle, a Shenzhen-based live translation device producer, received streams of visitors on the first exhibition day yesterday.

With an exhibition area of 270 square meters, the Shenzhen pavilion displays products of 20 companies, with nearly 50 other Shenzhen companies exhibiting online. The companies were selected from nearly 2,000 specialized and sophisticated small and medium-sized enterprises that produce novel and unique products in Nanshan District, which is known for its strength in high-tech.

Among Nanshan’s more than 430,000 enterprises, more than 4,500 are national high-tech enterprises, accounting for more than 20% of the city’s total. Nanshan also boasts 140 of the so-called “little giant”enterprises, which refer to leading SMEs that specialize in niche sectors, command a high market share, boast strong innovative capacity and core technologies, accounting for 31.5% of the city’s total and ranking first among the districts.

On the sideline of the fair, the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Science and Technology Industry Cooperation and Exchange Conference was held yesterday to accelerate the commercialization of the scientific and technological achievements in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and to promote deeper and wider cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong in science and technology.

During the conference, a number of Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation deals were signed, including the Digital Future Fund project, the Shenzhen Pudu Technology Co. project, Professor Lo Yuk-ming’s scientific research cooperation project and the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao weblebrity incubation project.
