Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport 

Located on the east coast of the Pearl River Estuary and 32 kilometers to the west of downtown Shenzhen, Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport is a mega international airport integrating marine, land, air and railway transport.

First opened in October 1991, Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport has witnessed rapid growth in both passenger and cargo volume. The annual passenger volume of the airport exceeded 10 million for the first time in 2003, making it one of the top 100 busiest airports in the world. The number continued to grow in the following years, surpassing 20 million in 2007, 30 million in 2013, 40 million in 2016 and topped 50 million to hit 52.93 million in 2019. The global rank of the airport has jumped to 26th while its passenger volume growth rate ranks 2nd among all its peers worldwide.

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport boasts first-class facilities. Its flight zones, terminals and cargo warehouses cover an area of 7.7 million square meters, 451,000 square meters and 1.66 million square meters respectively. The new airport terminal, an energy-saving aesthetic success with strong practicality, was put into operation in November 2013. Comprising a main hall, a cross-shaped departure hall and a satellite departure hall, the new terminal rests on 195,000 square meters of land with a total floor area of 451,000 square meters, spanning 1,128 meters from north to south and 640 meters from west to east, and provides 62 contact stands and 14 remote stands with a maximum passenger handling capacity of 45 million. The airport currently has two runways. The second runway, which is 3,800 meters long and 60 meters wide, became operational in 2011. As a 4F airport, Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport can accommodate large-scale airplanes including the A380, the world’s largest airliner.

Transport

(1) Private Cars

There are three public parking lots outside the ground transportation center (GTC) ofthe Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport. Passengers can follow direction signs in the GTC to access these parking lots by way of the eastern, western and southern platforms on the second floor of the GTC. Parking Lot P1 can be accessed by way of Door 13 or Door 14 located on the east side of the GTC, Parking Lot P2 can be accessed by way of Door 16 located on the west side of the GTC, and Parking Lot P3 can be accessed by way of Door 15 located on the south side of the GTC.

Pick-up areas (outside the GTC)

(2) Airport Express

The pick-up areafor the airport bus is located on the western platform on the second floor of the GTC. Passengers can buy tickets at the ticket counter near Door 17 and board the bus at the pick-up area.

(3) Taxis

Taxi stands can be found on the eastern platform on the second floor of the GTC. Passengers can access them by way of Door 13.

Pick-up areas (inside the GTC)

(4) Public buses and ride-hailing cars

A public bus stop and the pick-up area of ride-hailing cars can be found to the south of the GTC. Passengers can access them by way of Door 15 and then take the escalator or elevator to the corresponding level.

(5) Night-time public buses, coaches and inter-city buses

The bus stop for night-time public buses, coaches and inter-city buses is located on the western platform on the second floor of the GTC. Passengers can access the bus stop by way of GTC Door 16.

(6) Metro

The entrance to Metro Line 11 is located in the GTC concourse and can be accessed via four elevators and two escalators.

(7) Airport ferry terminal shuttle buses

Airport ferry terminal shuttle buses operate between the airport and the airport ferry terminal and are free of charge. Passengers can access the bus stop by way of Door 16 of the GTC.

(8) Coaches and inter-city buses

The pick-up area of coaches and inter-city buses is located on the second floor of the GTC. Passengers can take an escalator or elevator to the second floor for the ticket counter, the waiting area and the pick-up area.

(9) Buses to Hong Kong

The pick-up area of buses to Hong Kong is located on the western platform on the second floor of the GTC. Passengers can buy tickets at the ticket counter on the second floor and access the pick-up area by way of Door 16 or Door 17.

(10) Guangzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Railway

Passengers can take the escalator or elevator from the terminal or GTC (ground transportation center) to the Shenzhen Airport Railway Station to take the inter-city train.
