Construction on the New Hall of Shenzhen Art Museum in Longhua District, one of the 10 cultural landmarks in the new era, will be completed before the end of June this year.

The new division of Shenzhen Library, now called the Shenzhen No. 2 Library, also has entered the interior decoration stage, sources from the Shenzhen Municipal Public Works Bureau showed.

The structure, located at the Shenzhen North Railway Station CBD area, connects the art museum and library with a public square in between, and will be the first facility among the 10 landmark projects to be finished.

The library, which will be renamed into the North Division of Shenzhen Library, will feature an 8-million-volume book collection, and provide over 2,000 seats for readers.

The library is an important cultural platform for book collection, cultural exchanges, reading and public services, according to the bureau. The new museum is an art mecca that showcases the spirit and culture of Shenzhen, providing ample space for cultural exchanges.

As a public structure, the two Longhua venues are fully integrated into the surrounding environment and interconnect with each other through a public square.

In terms of design, the two facilities are not simply adjacent with each other, but dimensionally interacting with each other, according to the bureau.

The designs reinterpret traditional Chinese architectural elements through rich modern architectural techniques.

Shenzhen unveiled the plan to build 10 cultural landmarks in the new era at the end of 2018.

According to the construction agenda, the 10 facilities will be finished in 2024.
