Adapted from a collection of short stories by Feng Jicai, the Chinese play “Legends in the Earthliness,” starring renowned actresses Liu Mintao and Xu Songzi, depicts a group of intriguing folk legends from Tianjin during the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). It will be staged Friday and Saturday nights.

The following Sunday evening, Chinese pianist Jin Yu, who graduated from Boston University and New England Conservatory of Music, will play pieces by Brahms, Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt and Ryuichi Sakamoto.

On next Tuesday, the Yunnan Provincial Acrobatic Troupe will present the acrobatic show “Nie Er,” shedding light on the life story of the great musician Nie Er (1912-1935). It features multiple stunts and fresh stage designs to create epic dramatic effects. Born and raised in Yunnan, Nie composed dozens of revolutionary pieces, including “March of the Volunteers” which is now China’s national anthem.
