Top designers to share stories at 'Shenzhen Night'

Three internationally renowned design heavyweights will share their innovation and entrepreneurship stories in Shenzhen and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) at the upcoming “Shenzhen Night” event in the city of Huizhou on Saturday night.

The three speakers include famous designer, artist and curator Hong Ko, Chen Yuecheng, deputy director and secretary general of the Folk Lifestyle Research Center of the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association, and Zhao Huizhou, the first Chinese womenswear designer who appeared on Milan Fashion Week.

Ko, having worked and lived in Shenzhen for 14 years, has become a crossover crackerjack in the design industry. Ko created many designs, most notably the Shenzhen airport logo and image, and the brand image of Bama Tea.

Chen is the founder of Ziyuan Teahouse, which has evolved into a cultural complex from a gallery. Chen has managed to design an elegant lifestyle in the teahouse that transforms the beauty of ancient cultural traditions into the beauty of daily life in contemporary metropolises.

Zhao, as the founder and chief designer of Eachway Fashion Group, has many design awards under her belt. In recent years, Zhao has been committed to presenting China’s cultural legacy on the world stage and promoting original designs that integrate Chinese intangible cultural heritage.

The design-themed sharing session, jointly organized by Daily Sunshine, Huizhou Daily and the READING Mi Bookstore, will be held and livestreamed at Longsheng Jinshan Lake Center’s READING Mi Bookstore on Saturday night from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

In addition to the three heavyweights’ story sharing, it will also feature recitation of great Chinese poet Su Dongpo’s classic poetry and several other performances.

The session will mark the launch of the 2023 “Shenzhen Night” event, which is an intercity cultural exchange event that will feature 10 tour speeches in the GBA and a New Year’s get-together to be staged at the end of the year in Shenzhen.

The “Shenzhen Night” event is guided by the Publicity Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, and jointly launched by Shenzhen News Group’s Daily Sunshine and the READING Mi Bookstore.
