The main entrance of Lianhua Hill Park.

Located in the northern part of downtown Shenzhen, Lianhua Hill is not at all steep, reaching an elevation of only 106 meters. Lianhua Hill Park, which covers an area of 194 hectares, opened in June 1997. It is among the city's most visited parks and several signature events of the city, including the annual Shenzhen Bougainvillea Show and the Lianhua Hill Glades Music Festival, take place there. Atop the hill is a statue of Deng Xiaoping, the late Chinese leader who created the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone in 1980. While taking a stroll on the 4,000-square-meter square on the mountain top, travelers can revel in the regal views of the modern architecture below. The park also boasts lawns with a total area of 200,000 square meters and a manmade lake.
