This May, Shenzhen Concert Hall continues to offer the best of strings and wind music during its free weekend concerts.

On May 13, flutist Guo Chao, violist Feng Yangchong, violinist Luo Lina, cellist Zhou Shanni and pianist Li Wenjin will perform Camille Saint-Saëns’“Dance of Death,” Joe Hisaishi’s “Ashitaka Theme,” Astor Piazzolla’s “Oblivion” and Bart Howard’s song “Fly Me to the Moon,” among other works.

On May 20, saxophone player Tang Zicheng, pianist Yang Yang and violist Yu Xiao will perform with their students a concert of romantic works.

On May 21, led by clarinet and saxophone teacher Guo Yu and pianist Zhang Yu, the music majors of South China Normal University will perform Piazzolla’s “Escualo” (“Shark”), the beloved “Clarinet Polka” based on Polish folk songs, Luigi Bassi’s “Rigoletto Fantasia,” Pedro Iturralde’s “PequeñaCzarda” (“Little Dance”) and Vivaldi’s “Double Concerto.”

On May 28, guitarists Yan Ye, Zhang Zhuoran and Zhou Jiayi will bring beautiful guitar music alongside cellist Zhu Yongkang and several students. The program will include Saint-Saëns’ “The Swan,” Piazzolla’s “Libertango” and Harry Nilsson’s song “Coconut.”
