Antique appraisals

Experts from the Shenzhen Museum and Shenzhen Cultural Heritage Protection Center will give free appraisals on paintings, calligraphic works, porcelains and miscellaneous items for collectors.

New exhibitions

Two new exhibitions, featuring 258 painted enamel artifacts crafted in Guangdong during the 18th century and more than 100 fossil specimens of Jehol Biota creatures, will open tomorrow morning at the Shenzhen Museum’s History and Folk Culture Division.

Meanwhile, an exhibition of modern cultural and creative products will also open at the museum’s ancient art division tomorrow morning. The Suzhou embroidery exhibition is still being held at the division through early June.

Intangible cultural heritage

Local intangible cultural heritage inheritors will perform Hakka Hill Songs, Chen’s Tai Chi, Xin’s Acrobatics and Cantonese opera, and then talk with the audience about the cultural significance behind these heritages.

Workshop

Participants can make a model of the Hehu New Residence, a Hakka compound built in the 18th century in Longgang District, at a free workshop in which the history of the compound will be introduced.

Lecture

As a sideline activity of the ancient bronze ware exhibition being held at the museum’s ancient art division, a lecture on Shanghai Museum’s bronze ware collection will be held. The 172 exquisite bronze wares on exhibit are on loan from the Shanghai Museum.

To enter the museum’s two divisions, book on its WeChat account “iszbwg” and the museum’s opening hours for tomorrow have been extended to 9 p.m.
