An AIGC (AI-generated content) laboratory was officially unveiled at New Media Building in Futian District on Tuesday afternoon.

The lab is a collaborative effort between Shenzhen News Group, CloudWalk Technology Co. Ltd., a leading Chinese AI enterprise, and the National Supercomputing Center in Shenzhen, one of the country’s national scientific and technological innovation infrastructures.

The rise of generative AI technology, highlighted by the emergence of ChatGPT, an AI bot, has brought increased awareness of the transformative potential of AI. Recognizing this, the joint AIGC laboratory aims to provide a platform for Shenzhen News Group and its partners to conduct research and development in digital media transformation.

The lab will explore multidimensional integrated multimedia product systems, and leverage its findings to launch communication application brands based on AIGC, enhancing value-added products in areas such as culture, tourism, entertainment, cultural creation, literature and arts, and citizen services, so as to build the country’s first city-level cultural self-evolving intelligent platform.

Additionally, the lab aims to provide multilingual and cross-modal big data and AI solutions for digital media, digital city, digital business, and digital security. It will also delve into research on regulatory compliance, risk aversion, as well as values and ethics for media applying AIGC technology.
