As one of the first Chinese cities to pilot family doctor services, Shenzhen so far has 6,326 family doctors and 3,851 family doctor teams that provide family doctor contract services for 4.54 million residents, according to the city’s health commission.
By the end of 2022, the average signing rate for seven key population categories in Shenzhen reached 69.75%, and the average signing rate for elderly people aged 65 and above, as well as patients with hypertension and diabetes reached 92.82%, official data showed.
According to the city’s health authority, permanent residents in Shenzhen, including those with registered residence or those who have been living in the city for over half a year, can sign up with a family doctor team for free.
The family doctor contract services include basic medical care, health management, health education and consultation, diagnosis and treatment, appointment, referral, family beds and other services.
Residents with limited mobility and other special needs who have set up family beds can also enjoy door-to-door services from their family doctors.
