Riding the trend of China chic, or guochao, which features fancy designs mixed with elements from traditional Chinese culture, the first “New China Chic•New Creativity•New Consumption” Cultural Exhibition will be held from Aug. 18 to 20 at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center (Futian).

A post for the first “New China Chic•New Creativity•New Consumption” Cultural Exhibition.

Divided into five themed areas, Wind, Flowers, Snow, Moon, and a hall for conceptual designs, the exhibition promises creative and innovative China-chic designs that are close to life. Among them all, a ceramic exhibition titled “Wind•Elegance•Aria” is highly recommended.

The ceramic exhibition brings together a collection of exquisite masterpieces by renowned masters including Wang Xiliang, Zhang Songmao, and Xu Yafeng.

Zhang’s impressive six-panel work titled “Sails Reflected in the Changjiang River,” measuring 2 meters in height, is an extraordinary piece, as well as the beautiful“Peony Welcomes Spring,” a four-panel work measuring 1.8 meters high. The grandeur of Wang Cai’s large-scale porcelain painting “108 Heroes of the Water Margin” is both exquisite and unique. Master Wang Xiliang’s late-career works, such as “Double Longevity,”“Meeting on the Mountain to See Ancient Pine Trees,” and “Three Heroes of Adventure,” are also impressive.

In addition to the works of these senior artists, the organizers will also give prominence to younger generation artists, in order to reflect the characteristics of China chic. These artists include Zhong Zhenhua, art professor at Jingdezhen University, Xin Li,a Shenzhen-based master of arts and crafts and recipient of the Shenzhen May Fourth Youth Medal, and Jingdezhen ceramic intangible cultural heritage inheritor Zhan Yuanyuan. Their works not only inherit tradition, but also are innovative in designs, appealing to the taste of young people.

The organizers also have brought an assortment of tea cups and host cups of various glazes, patterns, and shapes, essential for an exquisite lifestyle.

Some of the artworks will be displayed for free at the Shenzhen Bayou Art Museum after the exhibition.
