A total of 5,813 organization, projects and products have registered to participate in the 10th China Charity Fair, which will be held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District from Sept. 15 to 17.

The focus of this year’s charity fair, as unveiled during a press conference hosted by the Information Office of the Shenzhen Municipal Government on Friday, will revolve around the theme of “jointly building modern charities and joining forces for high-quality development.”

The scope of the event will expand beyond the exhibition and exchange of charitable projects, encompassing a broader array of services catering to people’s well-being. It will be a platform to showcase innovative practices and effective models in charity and various sectors of society.

The fair will feature two themed exhibition halls with an exhibition area of about 45,000 square meters and 10 subvenues across the city. Over 20 seminars and roundtable discussions will highlight trending topics surrounding the development of charity in China, such as social services and technology for the greater good.

Meanwhile, a series of activities will be held to further explore the application of technological innovations in the charity sector and enhance the overall experience and interaction for the public attending the fair.

According to the organizers, efforts will be made to achieve near-zero carbon emissions at the fair. They will also set up a special exhibition area to highlight outstanding projects and institutions in the field of ecological and environmental protection.

Throughout the three-day event, a dedicated performance area will showcase characteristic projects and intangible cultural heritage products, creatively combining charity with music, dance, drama and fashion shows.

As a significant component of the charity fair, the China International Philanthropic Movie Festival will feature various activities, including a movie competition, an award ceremony and the release of a research report on the status quo of China’s philanthropic movies.

A notable addition to this year’s festival is the inclusion of short films created using AI tools, and the introduction of the best animated short film award, designed to encourage diverse forms of philanthropic videos.

The festival had received over 600 short film entries as of July 20, covering all provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions, as well as the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions for the very first time.

Since its inception in 2012, the fair has been held for nine sessions, making significant contributions to poverty alleviation, rural revitalization, and the advancement of innovative charity initiatives.
