The 109th China Food and Drinks Fair is being held at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an District starting today, attracting 4,012 exhibitors from over 30 countries and regions to showcase products, services and technologies in the food and beverage industry.

The fair, also known as the barometer of China’s food and beverage industry, started in 1955 and is one of the oldest large-scale professional exhibitions in China.

The fair, which has a 68-year history, is held for the first time in Shenzhen.

It covers an area spanning 220,000 square meters, making it the largest one for the autumn edition of the biannual event.

Well-known liquor makers such as Moutai, Wuliangye and Fenjiu from China, as well as liquor makers from the U.S., the U.K. and Russia, and winemakers from France, Australia, Spain and Italy are attending the three-day fair.

It attracts a total of 339 enterprises from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) to display their products in a combined exhibition area covering 15,000 square meters, showing the presence and influence of GBA enterprises in the country’s food and beverage industrial chain, organizers said at a news conference by the Shenzhen Municipal Government Information Office yesterday.

Visitors attend the 109th China Food and Drinks Fair at Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an District this morning.

“The GBA Hall will also display Shenzhen’s efforts and achievements in aiding urban rejuvenation and serving Hong Kong and Macao,” Li Minghua, director of the organizing committee and chairman of COFCO Sugar Holding Co. Ltd., said at the news conference.

Li estimated the fair will attract a total of 300,000 visits in three days.

The fair will host a event for VIP buyers, inviting more than 150 well-known buyers like Beijing Tourism Group, Lawson, Metro, Sam’s Club, CR Vanguard and top e-commerce companies, along with nearly 100 brand-name companies.

Various activities such as on-site promotion, product evaluation, and business negotiations will be held, aiming to facilitate precise matchmaking between buyers and sellers.
