Asia Pacific Energy Regulatory Forum held in SZ

Officials of energy regulatory agencies as well as enterprise representatives and researchers from 14 countries and regions participated in the Sixth Asia Pacific Energy Regulatory Forum yesterday, brainstorming on approaches to modernize energy governance system and to deepen energy system reform.

Zhang Jianhua, head of the National Energy Administration, Zhang Hu, executive vice governor of Guangdong, Qin Weizhong, mayor of Shenzhen, and Meng Zhenping, chairman of the Southern Power Grid, met with the guests.

Energy regulation plays an important role in maintaining their energy security, promoting fair market competition, enhancing the economic efficiency of the industry, and protecting the rights and interests of energy investors and consumers in Asia-Pacific countries, Zhang said in his speech during the forum. Strengthening international exchanges is an important way to enhance the level of regulation, Zhang said.

During the forum, the participating member states jointly released “the Sixth Asia Pacific Energy Regulatory Forum Shenzhen Initiative,” proposing to continue to promote low-carbon energy transformation, enhance the role of energy regulation in the process of energy transformation, and push ahead with digital technology innovation to empower energy transformation.
