A total of 17 entries and exhibitors became the proud recipients of the 2023 The Great One Award. The winners were unveiled at an awards ceremony held at the Shenzhen Bay RAIL IN commercial complex in Nanshan District on Saturday.

The ceremony also marked the launch of the Nanshan subvenue of the 11th Shenzhen International Industrial Design Fair (SZIDF). Meanwhile, 10 outstanding industrial designers were honored for their contributions to the 2023 Brilliance in Future Design project.

Eduardo Alessi, design director at Trovitech, expressed his excitement at representing his company to receive the trophy for the Best In Show category of The Great One Award at the awards ceremony.

“We appreciate that they liked our booth, as well as what we are doing. That is a nice experience. They appreciated our material and our attention to CMF (Color, Materials, Finish) design,” Alessi told Shenzhen Daily after receiving the trophy.

At this year’s SZIDF, Trovitech showcased a handmade material in collaboration with the Italian company Mazzucchelli 1849, the world leader in manufacturing and distributing acetate sheets, and some of the patterns that Trovitech applies to tech accessories.

Trovitech was one of the five winners in the Best In Show category. Additionally, three entries received the Child-Friendly Creative Award, five were honored with the Innovative Design Award, and three took home the Sustainable Design Award.

The Best of the Best accolade for The Great One Award went to the OUTASK retractable light designed by XIVO Design.

This year’s The Great One Award jury comprised five distinguished industry experts from home and abroad, including Thomas Garvey, president of the World Design Organization, and Thomas Kvan, founding dean of the School of Design and chair professor at the Southern University of Science and Technology.

As an important part of this year’s SZIDF, the Nanshan subvenue initiated a series of captivating design activities at the Shenzhen Bay RAIL IN commercial complex, aiming to strengthen the integrated development of design and commerce, design and fashion, and design and technology.

It also endeavored to foster the incubation and cultivation of brands from emerging designers, according to the Shenzhen Industrial Design Profession Association, one of SZIDF’s organizers.

This year’s SZIDF, with its main venue at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District and four subvenues across the city, opened Thursday and wrapped up yesterday.
