How do expatriates live their life and start a business in Shenzhen? What is Shenzhen like in their eyes? “The World in Shenzhen” will share with you their Shenzhen stories. This episode will follow the twists and turns of South Korean pals Yu Eun-ju and Gil Na-hyun as they ventured into Shenzhen. After finishing their aviation service programs in South Korea, the pairs came to study Chinese as exchange students at Shenzhen Polytechnic University. Instead of returning to their home country after the exchange program ended, they stayed in Shenzhen where they found lots of job opportunities and sought employment in companies like Tencent. Later they were inspired by the city’s entrepreneurial spirit and started from scratch a coffee shop they named “A Thing,” serving South Korean-style coffee and desserts. Now they have been living in China for seven years and can’t bear to leave. They work as “Shenzhen’s Global Communication Ambassadors” to help tell the world Shenzhen stories in their spare time. They feel bonded with Shenzhen. “Because they are young, they can do it.”
