How do expatriates live their life and start a business in Shenzhen? What is Shenzhen like in their eyes? “The World in Shenzhen” will share with you their Shenzhen stories. This episode will follow the career development of a young Peruvian man in Shenzhen. After graduating from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, Hubei Province, with a master’s degree in biomedicine engineering, Christian Virrueta, also known for his Chinese name Liu Bohan, took his classmates’ advise to travel south to seek employment. He arrived in Shenzhen at the beginning of 2022 and now works as an engineer at BGI. He loves his profession, and is keen on learning Chinese. He is a big fan of cycling, and has biked around Shenzhen in a year. He says Shenzhen is a special city with a large number of high-tech companies with their own strengths. “Sometimes I feel like living in two, three cities simultaneously in Shenzhen,” Virrueta said of the city’s diversity and inclusiveness.
