Medical equipment fair to showcase latest products

The 90th China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) is poised to open its doors at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & ConventionCenter in Bao’an District from Oct. 12 to 15, showcasing the latest advancements in medical technology on a grand scale.

Covering an expansive area of over 200,000 square meters, the CMEF will play host to more than 4,000 enterprises, displaying tens of thousands of innovative products. The event is anticipated to draw in excess of 120,000 professional visitors from various sectors of the healthcare industry, according to the fair’s organizer.

A significant highlight of this year’s event is the impressive international presence. The fair’s international exhibition area will feature representatives from over 20 countries and regions, including Germany, the U.S., Canada, South Korea, Japan, the U.K., France, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, Russia, Pakistan, Poland, China’s Hong Kong and China's Taiwan.

These participants will unveil their latest products, reinforcing the fair’s global reach and significance.

International interest in the CMEF has seen a remarkable surge, with the number of international visitor pre-registrations doubling compared to the same period last year. The event is expected to draw international professional visitors from more than 150 countries and regions worldwide.

This year’s fair will be a treasure trove of cutting-edge medical technology, featuring 14 specialized exhibition areas, including medical imaging, in vitro diagnostics, medical electronics, medical optics, hospital construction, operating rooms, disinfection and control, medical consumables, and orthopedics, offering a comprehensive view of the entire medical industry chain.

Since its inception in 1979, the CMEF has been a witness to the rapid growth of China’s medical industry, growing over 45 years to become a comprehensive global service platform. It stands as a barometer for the global medical industry, integrating product technology, new product launches, trade cooperation, and academic exchanges.

Shenzhen, renowned for its influential medical device industry cluster, boasts a complete industrial ecosystem that has positioned it as a powerhouse in international competition. The city’s robust industrial environment has been pivotal in launching China’s high-end medical device industry onto the global stage.

According to statistics, in the first half of 2024, Shenzhen’s private enterprises in biomedicine and medical devices achieved a staggering 11.85 billion yuan (US$1.69 billion) in foreign trade exports.
