Yantian job fair offers nearly 2,000 vacancies

From: Shenzhen Daily

A spring job fair hosted at the Cultural Center Square on Wednesday by the Yantian District Human Resources Bureau lured 70 local businesses that collectively offered nearly 2,000 job openings.

Participating companies included prominent local firms such as Hutchison Ports Yantian and Chow Tai Fook Jewelry Group, representing a variety of industries ranging from biopharmaceuticals, warehousing and logistics, gold and jewelry, electronics and technology, hospitality to food and beverage.

To assist those seeking a job more effectively in the western Shenzhen district, a dedicated employment service area was established on-site, providing valuable policy information and face-to-face consultations for both job seekers and startups.

The job fair was organized into multiple recruitment zones, catering to a wide range of positions from general laborers and structural engineers to emerging roles such as online hosts. This format facilitated nearly 400 individuals in securing job offers.

Xie Chuhua, a job seeker who traveled from another district to attend the fair, expressed his preference for in-person events over online recruitment.

He said that offline job fairs provide a more direct way to obtain detailed information about companies and allow for face-to-face interviews with employers.

“This significantly increases the chances of a successful job search,” Xie said.

A spokesperson for the bureau shared that extensive promotional efforts were made through various channels, including WeChat groups, Moments, and community bulletin boards.

“Our outreach has reached nearly 100,000 individuals, attracting around 2,000 job seekers coming from Shenzhen and other cities in the Pearl River Delta[of Guangdong],” the spokesperson stated.

Looking ahead, the bureau plans to enhance its public employment service system by expanding employment channels and offering personalized services to help those seeking to land a job in the western Shenzhen district.

In 2024, they aim to encourage subdistricts in Yantian to host four more public job fairs. Additionally, the district will extend support to private firms, assist job seekers with disabilities in finding suitable positions, and organize a career fair specifically for university graduates.
