Thalheimer Patrick Charles, a Canadian who has lived in Shenzhen since last June, received an integrated foreigner's work permit and social security card in Shenzhen on Jan. 15. The "Join in Card," available in physical and digital versions, allows expats to access multiple public services in diverse sectors such as government affairs, transport, tourism, finance, and healthcare without carrying their passports or other certificates. Effective Dec. 1, 2024, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security has implemented the "Join in Card" system nationwide, marking a significant shift toward providing more convenient and efficient services for expatriates.
