Entering its third edition this year, Design Shenzhen is a new design event from the influential Design Shanghai exhibition and is presented by Clarion Events Ltd., the world’s third-largest international events organizer.

According to Wang Xiaogang, director of Design Shenzhen, Design Shenzhen 2025 will host nearly 200 consumer technology and design brands from over 30 countries and regions to spotlight consumer technology, luxury residence design and commercial design, in a bid to redefine the definition of the deep infusion of technology and design.

Additionally, Design Shenzhen 2025 will present five featured exhibitions, namely, Good Design Select, WellConnect, Idea Box, E-sports Nest and Re: Materialize, as well as two forums — the Global Luxury Residence Design Summit and the Science & Technology and Innovation Conference, which is expected to gather nearly 120 industry leaders and attract nearly 50,000 audience members.

The Good Design Select exhibition, officially authorized by the G-Mark Design Award and curated by industrial designer Shi Xiaoxi, is an important event promoting Chinese-Japanese design exchange. Shi unveiled at the press conference that the Good Design Select 2025 will be themed as “Design Height” and feature winning designs from Best100, the highest honor category at the G-Mark Design Award. The latest Best100 winning team Nothing will also make their debut at Design Shenzhen.

WellConnect is an innovative feature curated by Design Shenzhen and DavidHugh Ltd. This initiative explores pioneering concepts that redefine modern living within home, work environments, and public spaces. WellConnect 2025 will be themed “DesignWell Hub” and will further explore the fusion of design and technology through the lens of health and wellness.

Idea Box, curated by Design Shenzhen and EY Products co-founder Jerry Huang, aims to create a complete ecosystem for object design. This year, Idea Box will comprise five exhibition areas: Brand Showcase Area, Idea Stage, Idea Show Window and Limited Box, bringing together over original design brands and 1,000 design works (including more than 200 new designs.)

To cater to the emerging gaming economy and Generation Z’s growing enthusiasm for E-sports, Design Shenzhen 2025 will stage the E-sports Nest exhibition, showcasing a single-person ultra-minimalist gaming room, a single-person ultra-maximalist gaming room, multiplayer-themed gaming spaces, and an all-in-one recreation room, inviting visitors to experience immersive gaming environments.

Re: Materialize exhibition challenges interdisciplinary creators to rethink design’s foundation, featuring works by artists, designers, and material producers inspired by the 2025–26 Materials Trend Report.

Re: Materialize, a materials aesthetics trend exhibition, aims to advocate for a return to material-oriented thinking at the early stages of design, emphasizing the forward-thinking concept of "material-driven design." Jointly initiated by Rong Design Library and Design Shanghai, the exhibition invites interdisciplinary artists, designers, and material producers from various fields to create material-centric works inspired by the three main themes of the 2025/26 Materials Trend Report.

Design Shenzhen 2025 will host the Global Luxury Residence Design Summit, integrating design innovation with the entire value chain to explore future design trends in luxury homes; While the Science & Technology and Innovation Conference will delve into the interplay of technology, creativity and design.

The event will also debut the City Design Guide, a curated showcase of the most design-centric and tech-driven spaces in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Wang Xiaogang stated, "As a hub of technology and industrial design, Design Shenzhen will connect consumer tech, architecture, interior design, and industrial innovation to foster cross-disciplinary dialogue and business cooperation, empowering brands to seize market opportunities and infuse Shenzhen with creative vitality.”
