The 19th International Botanical Congress Botanical Art Exhibition, the first-ever large-scale botanical art exhibition organized by the organizing committee of the Congress, was unveiled July 24 on the first floor of Greater China International Exchange Square.
7月24日，第19届国际植物学大会植物艺术画展在大中华国际交易广场一楼开幕，共展出来自13个国家和地区的262幅优秀植物画，展现出极高的艺术水平，引起市民的浓厚兴趣。
Visitors appreciate art works.
The exhibition, themed “Science and Art, Past and Future”, aims to create an international platform for dialogue on artwork pertaining to plants and to raise awareness about such artwork throughout society.
A total of 262 works from 13 countries and regions are on display in the gallery. The exhibition not only showcases representative works by botanical artists renowned in the international community, such as Mieko Ishikawa and John Pastoriza Pinol, but also those of Chinese painters, including Cheng-Ru FENG, Jin-yong FENG and Rong-dao CHEN, demonstrating the history of Chinese botanical art.
On top of that, a memorial album for the exhibition: “Walking the Path to the Eternal Fragrance — Catalog of the 19th IBC Botanical Art Exhibition”, was also released. The bilingual album assembles 192 works from the exhibition.
The exhibition was made possible by Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, Shenzhen, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the International Association of Botanic Gardens.
The exhibition aims to create an international platform for dialogue on artwork pertaining to plants and to raise awareness about such artwork in society.
Many citizens could be seen admiring the artwork at the exhibition on July 24, with foreign visitors accounting for over one third.
Citizens only need to show their ID card to view the exhibition, where artists will be present to discuss their works.
