The 2018 Shenzhen International Magic Festival, the "first course" on the Shenzhen City Culture Menu line-up, will kick off Feb. 2 and last for the whole month, according to a press conference held at the Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles on Jan. 29.
As a part of Shenzhen City Culture Menu's commitment to host cultural activities every month for the public, the International Magic Festival, jointly organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee and Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles, will bring mind-bending tricks and offer citizens a show never to be forgotten during the Spring Festival.
The International Magic Festival aims to improve Shenzhen’s image among magician circles on the world stage. This year’s activities include competitions between adults and adolescents, harlequinade, close-up magic shows in communities, professional magic shows given by international masters, magic exhibitions and lectures as well as the closing and awards ceremonies. More than putting on stunning performances for citizens' entertainment, the festival also promotes the sustainable development of the magic scene in China. By popularizing magic shows among citizens, the city will evolve into a hub of international magic shows.
Three magicians, named Ruxian Guli, Tan Yongquan and Xin Yafei, performed magic at the press conference. Guli, vice director of China Magic Committee and part-time vice-president of the Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles, introduced the detailed schedule of the International Magic Festival to the media. Citizens can find the related performance information from websites including www.jinmotong.com, http://szhappyvalley.cn and www.szjieli.com.
Shi Gang, secretary-general of the Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles pointed out that the highlights of the festival are the international live broadcast of the whole month and the magic getting close to local communities, allowing citizens to get a closer look at the charm of magic.
