Wutong Mountain is hosting the third Westland’s Rhododendron Festival with various exhibitions and events at different locations inside the mountain.
为贯彻落实深圳市政府创建“国家森林城市”、打造“世界著名花城”的要求。梧桐山风景区正在举办以“创建国家森林城市 共享花漾品质生活”为主题的第三届毛棉杜鹃花会。
Westland’s rhododendron
Westland’s rhododendron (rhododendron moulmainense, 毛棉杜鹃) is a flowering evergreen shrub native to South China, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. In Shenzhen, its flowering period is from March to April and its fruiting period is from May to June. The common name honors A. B. Westland, the first superintendent of the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens.

杜鹃花展
More than 450 lapland rosebay (rhododendron lapponicum, 高山杜鹃) trees in 10 varieties and more than 1,000 pots of other rhododendron (杜鹃) are on display. Lapland rosebay flowers are reddish or purple.
从全国各地迎回450余株10余种高山杜鹃、150余盆20余种精品杜鹃盆景和1000余盆各类杜鹃品种以盆景、园林小品展的形式突出杜鹃花的美，以供大家欣赏品鉴。

Hybrid magenta rhododendron pulchrum
Along the Good Man Slope (好汉坡), Good Man Road (好汉路) and around Shuangfeng Pavilion (双凤亭), the hybrid magenta rhododendron pulchrum (锦绣杜鹃) flowers are blossoming.
Westland’s rhododendron (毛棉杜鹃) can be found in Wanhuaping (万花屏) and Rhododendron Valley (杜鹃谷). The flowers are fragrant, borne on the precipices of the shrub’s branches in umbellates of groups of two to four. The petals are white or pink, with their inner part spotted with orange.
Rhododendron farrerae
Violet flowers of rhododendron farrerae (丁香杜鹃) can also be found along the Good Man Slope. Rhododendron is also called “映山红” in China, meaning “mountains tinged with red.” A sea of red flowers can be seen at Tofu Hilltop (豆腐头).
