“Concurrence,” a photography exhibition organized by local art organization ISZAF, is being held at SE Artspace.

Guiding spectators through the works of 15 international and local photographers of Shenzhen, the group exhibition aims to serve as a performative space to see Shenzhen through 31 photographs and everything in between them. The photographs can be regarded as an extension of the relationship we have with Shenzhen.

Jérôme Orial - 4D Lane

Providing a moment to pause and slow down against the speed of this city, the exhibition sparks a dialogue in which each photographer has brought these different moments, details, street scenes and cityscapes.

Each spectator is invited to walk and look through the exhibition, much like walking through the streets of Shenzhen. Each person is invited to build their own reading of the exhibited photos.

Marlon Villaverde - The Gap

At night, at daytime, in color, in black and white, in film and in digital, from people to objects to streets, they are all proposing a visual map of Shenzhen, one that is simultaneously real and fictional.

The exhibition itself offers a nonlinear experience to spark new perspectives and new conversations. We not only look at one photograph alone but also look at its interaction to other photos.
