British TNT Theater will present English play “Julius Caesar” at Shenzhen Children’s Palace on Sunday.
Written by Shakespeare in 1599, “Julius Caesar” is one of several plays based on true events from Roman history, which also include “Coriolanus” and “Antony and Cleopatra.”
Although the play is named “Julius Caesar,” Brutus speaks more than four times as many lines as the title character and the central psychological drama of the play focuses on Brutus’ struggle between the conflicting demands of honor, patriotism and friendship.
TNT Theater was founded in 1980 in Britain and since then has established itself as one of the most popular international touring theater companies in the world. Last season alone the company produced seven productions in almost 30 countries worldwide.
TNT Theater has won many awards, such as at the Munich Biennale, the Edinburgh Festival, the Tehran Festival and from the government of Singapore.
凯撒功高位尊，极力扩大自己的势力，皇袍加身势在必行；而以凯歇斯等人为首的共和派则反对个人专权，企图铲除凯撒势力，但势单力薄，于是蹿掇德高望重的勃鲁托斯参与他们的行动。在勃鲁托斯的带领下，共和派刺杀了凯撒。之后，凯撒的心腹安东尼以热情的演说煽动罗马民众，使他们改变初衷，转而反对勃鲁托斯，并将勃鲁托斯等人逐出罗马城。最后，在安东尼等人的大兵围困下，勃鲁托斯自杀，共和派覆灭。
《凯撒大帝》亦名《裘力斯凯撒》，莎士比亚基于古罗马史创作。剧情围绕古罗马两个政治党派之间的斗争展开，借古喻今，探讨了英国伊丽莎白一世时代专制集权、贵族民主和群众情绪三者之间的错综矛盾关系。剧中有历史，有政治，有辩论术，有文采，在悲剧中弥漫着正义和时代思想的兵戎相接的气氛，是莎翁历史剧的巅峰之作。剧中对政治阴谋以及群众被轻易操弄的描绘深刻，似乎是专为人们书写的政治斗争寓言。人类几千年的历史，起起伏伏、曲曲折折，你方唱罢我登场。而莎翁，以他的如椽巨笔，早已洞悉人类社会的众生相，所谓"我们今天所经历的一切，莎士比亚都写过"。
英国TNT剧院于1980年创立，是全球巡演国家和场次最 多的英语剧团--几乎占据了德国全部英语话剧市场，也是在法国、日本和俄罗斯演出最 多的英语剧团。TNT戏剧作品有浓厚的音乐剧特质，对演员的选拔亦看重其驾驭戏剧、音乐、舞蹈的综合能力。剧院从2000年开始创作莎士比亚系列作品，如同莎翁时代一样，一人分饰多角和性别反串也是鲜明的TNT特色。为表彰TNT剧院对英国戏剧的杰出贡献，2013年，查尔斯王子代表英国女王授予剧院艺术总监保罗·斯特宾大英帝国勋章（MBE)。
